365 Days of Genocide in Gaza - A Year of Relentless Hardship

One year has passed since the humanitarian disaster in Gaza escalated into a full-blown crisis. The people of Gaza have been caught in a relentless cycle of violence, displacement, and deprivation, with no end in sight. This post explores how this catastrophe began, the ongoing impacts on Gaza’s population, especially the children, and the current death toll. Furthermore, we will delve into the significant efforts of the Alkhidmat Foundation, which has tirelessly provided life-saving aid and services during this bleak period.

October 7, 2023, marked a critical turning point for Gaza. Over the last year, Gaza has faced continuous bombardment, blockades, and a mounting humanitarian crisis. The situation spiraled out of control with repeated attacks on civilian infrastructure, hospitals, schools, and essential services, leading to an unprecedented level of suffering. Children and families bear the brunt of the ongoing violence, with many living in fear and uncertainty. The war has not only destroyed homes but also shattered dreams, robbing children of their education, their mental well-being, and their basic right to safety. It has led to thousands of casualties and left millions struggling to survive amidst the ruins of a once vibrant community. The effects of this prolonged conflict are devastating, especially for the most vulnerable—children. Families face constant threats from airstrikes, and life in Gaza has become a daily struggle for survival. According to reports, the death toll continues to rise, with thousands losing their lives and countless others suffering from physical and psychological wounds

Children in Gaza face an uncertain future, deprived of education, safe homes, and even basic healthcare. The mental health crisis among Gaza's youth is rapidly escalating, with trauma and anxiety deeply embedded in their everyday lives. Amidst these harrowing conditions, the Alkhidmat Foundation has emerged as a beacon of hope, providing essential services and relief to the besieged population of Gaza. Over the past year, Alkhidmat has mobilized substantial resources to aid the affected families in Gaza, offering a lifeline during the darkest times.

Alkhidmat’s Palestine Relief program has made a significant impact through the following contributions:

  • Air Cargo & Sea Shipments: Over 2,707 tons of aid have been delivered, includin critical supplies such as food, medicine, and hygiene kits.
  • Medical Aid: More than 327 tons of medicines have been provided, alongside 2 ambulances to support emergency medical care.
  • Food & Nutrition Support: The foundation has distributed more than 78,398 hot meals, 30,508 food packs, and 353,000 bottles of water to families living under extreme conditions.
  • Shelter & Hygiene: Alkhidmat has supplied tents, blankets, and winter packs to shelter displaced families, while distributing over 23,373 hygiene kits and 5,000 jerry cans of water.
  • Educational Support: The foundation also recognizes the critical importance of education, supporting 214 students through academic scholarships and operating 2 schools in Gaza to provide continuity in education despite the war

The children of Gaza have been particularly affected by this genocide. Their education has been disrupted, with schools often targeted or used as shelters. Many children have been left orphaned or traumatized. Alkhidmat has stepped in by creating safe spaces for education and emotional support through its schools, ensuring that even in times of war, the children have some semblance of normalcy

As of October 2024, the situation remains dire. The death toll is staggering, with thousands of civilians killed and hundreds of thousands more displaced. The relentless nature of the attacks has pushed Gaza’s infrastructure to the brink of collapse. Medical facilities are overwhelmed, and there is a severe shortage of basic supplies like food and clean water.

The past year has been one of unimaginable suffering for the people of Gaza. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, the spirit of resilience shines through. The Alkhidmat Foundation has played a pivotal role in providing life-saving aid and supporting the people of Gaza through this ongoing genocide. Their efforts have not only brought relief to the present suffering but also hope for a future where peace and safety might one day prevail

For the people of Gaza, the battle for survival continues, but with the unwavering support of organizations like Alkhidmat, there is hope that brighter days are ahead.
